At one point or another, most budding pros have checked in to some of the many various instructional videotapes on photography, only to be disappointed. Some tapes are better than others. Before you waste your time and your money, read Video Reviews. Have a question about a prospective videotape? EMail Steve & Tashia Peterman with your request at tashiapeterman@cox.net.
PPOC offers its members the use of an extensive library of instructional videotapes. Taking the library as it currently exists, the contents may be broken into two distinct groupings. Tapes 3 - 56 are produced by highly qualified image-makers. They instruct the viewer in the basic techniques required to move one’s photography from a hobby into a profession. These tapes on the whole are extremely useful for someone who is still in the process of acquiring the fundamentals and developing their style.
Videos 101- 124, issued by “Photo Vision” (a visual magazine), cover the years 1999 - 2000. In each tape, there are two segments containing in-depth presentations by two well-known photographers who show you what they are presently doing in regards to a particular topic. The third segment is called “Industry News Briefs,” a well-disguised set of advertisements. This set of tapes could be useful to a photographer who has mastered the fundamentals of photography and would be interested in seeing what other successful photographers are doing. |
